The I in sIn vs The US in JesUS

Have you ever noticed how at the middle of the word sIn is I? Whenever our focus becomes on I or the self we are sure to be led down the wrong path by evil and fail. I am not getting something I think I deserve or I want... The list can go on and on, inducing jealousy, anger, envy... Pleasing the self, in this world of sIn, is all about I.

There are even songs about it:
I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see...

The focus of the self leads to
The I in LIe - to get what you want
The I in wIn - you have to be # 1
The I in rIght - you have to be right
The I in faIr - life is never fair to you
The I in sIn - a path of destruction

vs.

JesUS, when did Jesus do anything or want anything for himself. He was not wealthy, He had only what he could carry with Him. Everything He did was for US. He put US first! He died to give US life!

The US in HIS jUStice
The US in HIS righteoUS
The US in focUS on JesUS
The US in trUSt in JesUS
The US in JesUS alone

We need to change our focus off the I, and onto JesUS. To be more like Him! To love more like Him! To give more like Him! To put the others in our lives before I!

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.”
