Priorities

For Good

May 28, 2020

I heard the below song for the first time a few days ago in a Harlem High School video (attached in comments) that my friend Ashley and her daughter Hannah sang. I don’t know the context of the play/movie it comes from, but it was absolutely beautiful and the words touched my heart so much...

Priorities

The Grass Isn't Greener

May 28, 2020

Too often times in this world we try to find fulfillment in things or people. When the things (job, money, possessions, lusts, drugs, alcohol, food... ) don’t satisfy anymore, we seek more of whatever “it” may be or turn to a new idol. If it’s a person that is not meeting our desires, we often times start looking for what we want in someone else, the grass is greener on the other side concept, and walk away from that relationship. Always in search of that something or someone better to meet our wants.

The Attack on Yuor Mind

The Attack on Your Mind

March 29, 2020

I was once told by a very wise mentor that we hear 4 voices in our head. The first is our own voice, the second is the voice of others (family/friends/coworkers...), the third the voice of God, and the forth is the voice of the evil one. These voices can all sound like yourself at times ...

The 'I' in SIN

The 'I' in SIN

March 19, 2020

Have you ever noticed how at the middle of the word sIn is I? Whenever our focus becomes on I or the self we are sure to be led down the wrong path by evil and fail. I am not getting something I think I deserve or I want... The list can go on and on, inducing jealousy, anger, envy ...

Be Reconciled

Be Reconciled

March 17, 2020

Have you ever been at odds with someone, relationally speaking? God can lead people to serve Him differently and in opposite directions for His purpose. However, relationally speaking this isn’t the case. Relationships might only be for a time and season, but they should move on under good terms, not at odds. If the relationship ended at odds, I would tend to say one of or both of the parties involved are acting outside the ...

Missing the Mark

Missing the Mark

March 16, 2020

Did you know that the word sin is an archery term for missing the mark or target? In life as a noun we label sin as all the bad stuff, but as a verb isn’t it just us missing the mark? In archery the closer you are to the target the easier it is to hit the mark than if you are far away. In life the closer you are to Jesus, the ...

Fear Not Every Day

Day 1

And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? FEAR NOT, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Genesis 21:17 (NKJV)

The lad that God heard in this scripture is Ishmael. He is the son of Abraham and his wife Sarah’s maidservant, Hagar. Sarah did not want Ishmael to be heir with her son, Isaac, so she asked Abraham to cast him and his mother out. Abraham was very displeased because Ishmael was his son too...
